PARIS -- September 2, 2008 -- Sun Microsystems today announced that Atos Worldline, a subsidiary of the Atos Origin group, has joined its MySQL™ Authorized Hosting partner program, specifically designed for managed hosting providers, SaaS (Software as a Service) vendors, and mobility service providers.
To meet the requirements of thousands of customers, managed hosting providers face numerous database-related challenges -- including high-availability, scalability, as well as the recruitment and retention of highly qualified personnel.
By joining Sun Microsystems' MySQL Authorized Hosting Partner Program, Atos Worldline can leverage Sun’s MySQL Enterprise™ database software, tools and services to deliver high performance and highly available data management solutions to its customers, while at the same time helping them to achieve significant cost savings.
"We have observed an ever-increasing demand for MySQL from our customers, especially for online and e-commerce applications," said Eric Willems, Manager of technical and software architectures at Atos Worldline. "It was very important for us to be able to benefit from MySQL best practices and 24/7 support from Sun in order to deliver the performance and service quality that our customers have every right to expect from Atos Worldline. We have now achieved this by joining the MySQL Authorized Hosting partner program."
"It is fundamental for SaaS suppliers to be able to contractually commit to and deliver on Customer Service Levels Agreements," said Bertrand Matthelié, Director of EMEA Marketing, Database Group, Sun Microsystems. "We are delighted to help Atos Worldline and their customers deliver highly scalable and highly available MySQL-powered database applications."
