• Who Works For MySQL?
  First, let's dispense with the notion that MySQL is a troop of Vikings who punch time clocks every day in the MySQL AB head office near Stockholm. Less than 10% of the employees are Swedish nowadays, and both the American and the German contingents outnumber them. • MySQL Connector/J 3.0.9 STABLE Has Been Released
  MySQL Connector/J 3.0.9, a new version of the Type-IV all-Java JDBC driver for MySQL has been released.

MySQL Tips & Hints

• Protecting MySQL Sessions With SSH Port Forwarding
  When the MySQL client communicates with the MySQL server, all communication (with the exception of the user password) is done in plain text. The same holds true for the Connector/ODBC driver and all software communicating through it.

• What is the limit to the length of primary keys
  What restrictions, if any, does MySQL have on the length of primary keys.

  In MySQL by default the maximum lenght for any index is 500 bytes for MyISAM tables and 1024 bytes for InnoDB. An index can contain from 1 to 16 columns or parts of columns. The default maximum lenght of index can be changed at compile.
   

• Error 28, how to avoid it.
  What is error 28 and how can I avoid it?

  Error 28 means, that there is not enough diskspace available for the MySQL Process. To avoid it, you need to ensure, that especially MySQL's temporary directory has plenty of space available.
